Philosophy of Education
I believe that all students have the right to learn in a developmentally appropriate environment. In my classroom, students will be provided with a safe and secure setting, and together, we will establish a community of learners who respect one another. A caring community of learners is imperative to allow maximum growth within each student. My role as a teacher is to passionately facilitate learning, provide enriching experiences and be a positive role model. I believe that teachers, parents and the community are all partners in the educational journeys of our students. It is important to differentiate instruction and present each lesson with enthusiasm. I believe that no two students are alike and the teacher needs to take that into consideration while thoughtfully and intentionally addressing this not only in lesson plans, but in every daily interaction. Each lesson needs to address and reflect the various types of learners in the classroom.
Every child in my primary classroom (student teaching) placed their finger print on the tree. This tree represents many things that I believe in regards to teaching and learning. Each child's fingerprint is different and that also represents them as learners. Differentiating lessons is important because no two students will learn the exact same way. I understand that child has their struggles and strengths and it is my job to uncover those. After those struggles and strengths are revealed, I will work hard to meet each child's individual needs and allow them to be successful. As a whole, we will work together to create a caring community of learners who will learn and grow together. Together our class is like a growing tree.
